Top 3 Best Mom Blogs Ever - Seattle Children's Photographer

Free time? What’s that?

Being a Mom means you’re busy. Whether you’re a stay-at-home parent or you shuttle your kids to daycare before rushing to work, you already have plenty going on.

In this season of life, I haven’t read an entire book in way too long!

These days, I take my entertainment in small doses and there are many sources to choose from - Instagram, Twitter, TikTok.

Any I’m missing? Probably because I’m not cool enough to know they exist.

For a nerd like me, I still love a good, old-fashioned blog!

Here are my a few of my favorites for you to enjoy the next time you have 4.2 minutes while waiting in a parking lot to pick up your kids (with your phone on Do Not Disturb).

#1CUP OF JO

Hands-down, Cup of Jo is my favorite blog of all-time. Joanna Goddard reads my mind. Not only do we have kids the same age and have the same cozy taste in fashion, she also shares her hopes, dreams and fears in a way that makes me feel completely understood.

Her blog as evolved over the years from being motherhood-focused to providing readers with a friendly and interesting balance of topics from home decor, travel, recipes, fashion and more. She seems to care deeply about her readers and when I click over to see what’s new, I feel like she’s talking to me.

Joanna, can we be friends??

As someone with serious wanderlust, I devoured the series Motherhood Around the World. Women around the globe, living abroad with their families, share their experiences about what life is like raising kids in a country that is not their own. Fascinating! Check out Mary Frances Davidson, raising her kids in Iceland and Molly Gage’s experience parenting in Italy.

Are there teens in your house? My son turned 15 this year and this collection of reader comments on Parenting Teens made me a little weepy.

Always be the after-the-event pick-up mom, even if it means an 11 p.m. pickup in your pjs.

Three short years before my son leaves for college and I. Can’t. Even.

Need ideas on how to incorporate family photos in your home decor? Cup of Jo has you covered. Check out 11 Cool Ways to Display Family Photos for fun, casual inspiration. And check out my portfolio and INFO page if you’d like to learn more about Lifestyle Family and Newborn Photo Sessions. I’ve built my business on creating a fun, laid-back experience for you and your family while chasing you with my camera. (But not in a creepy way.)

Lastly, Cup of Jo posts a little gift late in the day EST on Fridays; a list of 10 fun links from around the web. (I wait for it all week.)

Joanna has me wrapped around her finger. Shhh…don’t tell her!

#2 Scary Mommy makes me laugh every time.

I follow on Instagram and can often be found guffawing unattractively (is that even a word?), which I do in the privacy of my own home. Plus, there’s lots of great info to fill my brain.

Traveling with the fam and not sure how to sift through ALL the clothes that your kids own and pack accordingly? Scary Mommy has you covered - How to Travel with Kids and not Overpack. Just don’t forget that favorite stuffie, whatever you do.

Need a bit of guidance on how to communicate with your partner or spouse about the nitty gritty of household duties? Think bills, chores, appointments, meal planning. Maybe adding an “Administrative Hour” to your life each week is just what you need to save time and stop bickering about the decisions that stress you out the most.

#3 THE EVERYMOM has a little bit of, well, EVERYTHING.

gender neutral nursery

We love the beautifully-crafted hand-knit dolls from Cuddle + Kind.

From summer cooking inspiration for kids, to home decor ideas for a blissful nursery and skincare tips from a pro, this blog has variety to keep you coming back, combined with gorgeous imagery. When I devote my precious free time to a blog, I want it all! Plus, informative ideas like how to help kids build healthy finance habits. No, it’s not too early!

And for those who have suffered pregnancy loss, this is a beautiful story of tremendous love and generosity involving one woman volunteering to be a surrogate for a friend struggling with infertility.

You can read about my journey with infertility and miscarriages here. (Spoiler Alert: It’s a happy ending.)

Remember, friends. Take time for yourself and fill your own cup so you can get back out there and be the wonderful, loving, fantastic humans (and Mamas) that you are.
