Family Photo Session at the Beach

Fall on Long Island hasn’t provided the typical sunny, pleasant weather I look forward to after a humid summer, but it hasn’t been all bad. It’s a pretty good feeling to have a great session with a family who willingly braved the elements on a gusty beach.

And it’s a gift to spend time with a family and observe them as they interact. All are unique, with a special magic of their own. I love catching a glimpse of affection between a couple when they think no one’s looking, or the way a big brother looks after the younger one so he doesn't run too far ahead. The details that vanish in a blink are those I enjoy most.

These boys were the sweetest and seemed to really like having their picture taken. The result was a windswept session full of moody overcast skies, but with plenty of smiles. They stuck it out for almost an hour and I’m so glad they did!

Sometimes kids like to bring along a favorite toy and it makes its way into a shot. Fine by me!
